This Speedtimer chronograph takes inspiration from Seiko's first
stopwatch designed for timing winter sports. As the official timing
device at a major sporting event held in Sapporo in 1972, the original
stopwatch’s features were tailored for winter conditions. These included
a black dial for high legibility during competitions conducted on snow.
The red indexes and the chronograph sub-dial at 9 o'clock enhance
visibility against the matte, sandblasted black dial, which reduces the
reflection of light from the sun and snow. The theme continues with the
stainless steel case thanks to the use of black hard coating.
